Anala Luna's Guide To Wicca
a comprehensive guide to what is commonly known as witchcraft.

In the world of technology today, we have cancelled the thought of witches. Or, have we? When one hears the word witch, one thinks of Salem, or Halloween. But today there are witches everywhere one has to work hard to discern them from all others! What comes to mind when you hear witch? Do you think of The Wizard of Oz? Or maybe you remember burnings? Over three thousand people have been accused of being a witch and they have died for their religion they had faith. Do you believe in God, or are you, yourself an athiest? Buddist? Or, something else? I would like you to feel welcome in the witches realm it is called Wicca. Wicca is a branch of the Pagan religions. We can cast spells, work curses, ask guidance from the gods, perform divinations, and hold rituals to become differentto change ourselves. Whatever we send comes back worse by thrice that is why the dark magiks are not as commonly found in witches as much as the good. They may provide fascination but the smart witches know better than to dabble in this type of magik. We make everything from bath salts to love potions. The only catch to this religion is that those who do not really believe, but say they do, they lose their power among our intricate community and sometimes are banished from thought, and of course, the fact that things come back thrice as worse as what we sent is a little discouraging. If you refer to Lady Morgan Crystal Moonshines web pages, you may find an interesting spell, or initiation rites. The initiation is a special time or occasion. Usually, one finds themselves joining an existing circle, but one can also create a circle. A circle, or coven, is normally made up of 1-4 witches and each witch represents one of the four corners: north & earth, south & fire, east & air, or west & water. There may be more to a coven, but this is the most common configuration. There are also a great number of solo practitioners so don't think you must have others worship with you! You may have seen The Craft, it was based upon Wicca although the makers represented Wicca wrongly. The initiation may take place during the winter or summer solstices or spring or fall equinox to bring more power to the bond but, in fact, they may be done on any day or night, without taking in the role of the moon. Spells were designed to help a witch cope with life, unfair treatment, and to bolster self-esteem. Unfair treatment could be anything from not having the amount of money one wants to make or has or the job one performs daily, but overall, the spells help change these things so that life is more fair than it was before. These spells are usually simple and very helpful, yet can also be used wrongly just like every other existing spell. Some spells are designed to help you cope with life, for instance: calling your soul mate, being successful, etc. These are important because these help us grow more confident and help us bring our esteem to an acceptable level. One can make spells or find existing ones by looking on the net. To make a spell, one needs to have a book of shadows where it can be kept in relative safety. A book of shadows is a blank book without lines that can be written in. Every time one performs a ritual or casts a spell, one must record it in the book. The records are there to help you remember to look for results. And they also help prevent casting the spell more times than necessary. There are also spells that take more than one day or night to cast, and the book of shadows helps one acknowledge where one left off. It may also help one concentrate upon what must be done next. I have been a witch all my life. It is what I know, what I breathe. Wicca is not something one has to be initiated into by others, but rather a trial of the self. Wicca is a nature-attuned religion which I have found useful in raising my self esteem, for being a witch, one must believe in oneself whole-heartedly. I welcome you among the ranks of practitioners and researchers and thank you for visiting my site. One of our most sacred symbols is the Pentacle. We by no means worship Christian devils, though the symbol can be mixed up by the unpracticed eye. The pentacle is a five-pointed star and has only one point up, as opposed to the Satanist star which owns two sides that point skyward. The topmost point represents the element of Spirit, and the other four represent the elements. In a Satanist's pentagram, Spirit is underneath the four elements, representing the body over spirit! There are four paths to Wicca. These are paths of air, earth, fire, and water. Each is governed by its own archangel, these archangels are Raphael,Uriel, Micheal and .I urge all who join Wicca to unconsciously pick their path, not just say "I will be an air" because the path which is right for you is the one that calls you. Another symbol that is used frequently is the ankh, an egyptian symbol for life. It reflects the Wiccan Rede. (Shown Below) The word Pagan originated from Pagandi, a Latin word meaning "country-dweller" or "hill-dweller". Wicca originated from the word wiccain which means "to change", also the origination of wicker. More About Me In my family, all save two are pagan. My younger brother and oldest sister are Christians. We live peacefully mostly. My older brother and i go to the Great Lakes Medieval Faire in the summers, occasionly my younger brother tags along. The Medieval Faire is located near Geneva, Ohio and opens in the last weekend of June and runs until the first weekend of August. It opens explicitly on the weekends, and you can dress up to visit (which is extremely fun) Entertainment areas are called The Bog (which is very funny!)and a few others I could not name at the moment. There are fairies and elves, and the occasional troll wandering around, as well as Scots-men and others, like gypsies. It is a wonderful experience and I encourage all who have time and an extra $10(addmission fee)to go! I also attempt to visit Brushwood with my older brother. Brushwood is a large gathering area for pagans to celebrate the eight sabbats and pray, as well as cast spells and camping.
